Abstract

Grassy weeds in wheat were effectively controlled by isoproturon alone as well as its tank mixture with 2, 4-D or metsulfuron methyl, while non-grassy weeds were effectively controlled by all herbicide applications but the efficacy was improved with tank mix application. Significantly higher grain yield was obtained with tank mix application of isoproturon at 750 g ha−1 with metsulfuron methyl at 4 g ha−1 (4974 kg ha−1) or 2, 4-D at 400 g ha−1 (4873 kg ha−1) or metsulfuron methyl at 3 g ha−1 (4799 kg ha−1). Cross sowing (22.5 cm x 22.5 cm) recorded significantly lower density and dry matter of weeds and highest grain yield (4778 kg ha−1) compared to normal (22.5 cm) and close line (18 cm) sowing.
