Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at CCS Haryana Agricultural University Regional Research Station. Kamal during kharif 2000 and 2001 to evaluate the efficacy of Alkombo [Almix (chlorimuron ethyl+metsulfuron methyl)+anilofos] (readymix) and tank mixture of Almix+butachlor in transplanted rice. Alkombo at 280.5 g ha−1 was at par with butachlor at 1500 g ha−1, anilofos at 400 g ha−1 and pretilachlor at 1000 g/ha−1 in reducing the dry weight of weeds and these treatments proved significantly superior to butachlor at 1250 g ha−1, pretilachlor at 625 g ha−1 and anilofos at 300 g ha−1. Butachlor and Almix as tank mixture did not significantly decrease the dry weight of weeds over the alone application of butachlor at corresponding dose. Application of Alkombo at 280.5 g ha−1, butachlor at 1500 g ha−1, anilofos at 400 g ha−1 and pretilachlor at 1000 g ha−1, and tank mixture of Almix+butachlor at 4+1250 g ha−1 produced similar effective tillers and consequently grain yield of rice to that of plot kept weed free for the whole season.
