Field experiment was conducted during winter seasons of 1996–97 and 1997–98 to assess the interaction effect of cultivars (Avarodhi, Radhey and Pant G 114) and weed flora density level (0, 50, 100 and 200%) on weed growth and yield. Radhey reduced the weed dry matter accumulation as compared to Avarodhi and Pant G 114. Radhey recorded significantly higher grain yield in comparison to Pant G 114 during both the years. However, it was at par with Avarodhi in the first year and significantly higher in the second year. The index of competition was lower in Avarodhi and Pant G 114 as compared to Radhey and Pant G 114, and Radhey and Avarodhi during first and second year, respectively.
