To evaluate the efficiency of different herbicides alone and in combination with hoeing, field experiment was conducted during winter seasons of 2000–01 and 2001–02. Two hand hoeings at 30 and 60 DAS proved to be most effective in controlling weeds and gave seed yield at par with weed-free. Among different herbicides, pre-plant incorporation of trifluralin at 1.0 and 1.2 kg ha−1 and pre-emergence application of linuron at 0.75 and 1.0 kg ha−1 provided excellent control of weeds. Trifluralin and linuron both were very effective against Chenopodium album and Melilotus indica. Efficacy of linuron was more than trifluralin against Coronopus didymus.
