To study the persistence of chlorsulfuron in different pH soil (5.2 and 8.0) incubated for different periods at 25°C, bioassay studies using maize as test plant were conducted in the screen house at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar during 2000–01. Results revealed that degradation of chlorsulfuron was faster in low pH soil than in high pH soil. The half-life of chlorsulfuron was 31 days in low pH soil as compared to 93 days in high pH soil. The GR50 calculated on the basis of probit analysis was higher in low pH soil at each incubation period.
