Application of herbicide treatments viz., MON 46996, anilofos, butachlor, both ready-mix and tank-mix anilofos and ethoxysulfuron, and tank-mix of butachlor and ethoxysulfuron each applied at 3 DAT significantly reduced the density and dry weight of weeds, which were at par with weed-free treatments during both the years of experiment. Yield and yield attributing parameters viz., plant height, panicle length, number of effective tillers and grain yield of rice in both the years recorded were significantly superior under MON 46996, anilofos, butachlor, both ready-mix and tank-mix anilofos+ethoxysulfuron, and tank-mix butachlor+ethoxysulfuron than ethoxysulfuron alone in 2001, and were at par with weed-free plots as compared to ethoxysulfuron alone and were found at par with weed-free treatment. Application of ethoxysulfuron alone could not provide significant increase in grain yield and other yield attributing characters.
