Integrated Weed Management in Upland Rice (Oryza sativa) in Assam

Abstract

Uncontrolled weed growth reduced the grain yield of rice by 60%. Weed control treatments significantly increased the yield components and yield of rice and reduced the weed dry matter accumulation. The highest grain yield (2.13 t/ha) was registered with pretilachlor 0.75 kg/ha+safener and was at par with recommended practice (butachlor 1.5 kg/ha+grubber) and intercropping cowpea (fodder)+butachlor 1.0 kg/ha+mechanical weeding. The mean weed control efficiency with the above treatments was 57.6, 52.9 and 55%, respectively.
