Abstract

Sickle weeding at monthly interval gave the best control of Mimosa invisa, followed by digging and removing the plant twice, and sickle weeding bimonthly, which were on par. Although production of new shoots and dry matter per square metre were effectively controlled by these treatments, they were not cost effective. Flaming the infested field in summer followed by one ploughing was at par with digging and removing the plant once. This study indicated the possibility of efficient control of M. invisa through utilisation of a judicious combination of the physical methods tested.
