Integrated Effect of Soil, Water and Weed Management Practices in Transplanted Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Abstract

Intensive puddling with continuous submergence (IPCS) resulted in lowest weed density and dry weight with higher WCE, and increased yield attributes and grain yield over normal puddling with irrigation at one day after disappearance of ponded water (NPDDPW). Among the weed management practices, pre-emergence application of oxadiagyl at 75 g/ha+HW at 40 DAT significantly recorded lower weed density, weed dry weight and higher yield attributes and grain yield and it was comparable with two HW than weedy check. The integration effect of oxadiargyl 75 g/ha+HW at 40 DAT or HW twice at 20 and 40 DAT coupled with IPCS being statistically at par resulted in higher number of panicles/m2, number of filled grains/panicle and grain yield due to lower weed density and dry weight over other treatment combinations. The performance of oxadiargyl at 75 g/ha with or without hand weeding was better in reducing the weed density and dry weight compared to cinmethylin at all the puddling and water management practices in transplanted rice. Unweeded check coupled with NPDDPW reduced the grain yield by 50.5% over the best weed management practice of pre emergence application of oxadiargyl 75 g/ha +HW at 40 DAT coupled with IPCS.
