A coloiimetric method for determination of diuron residue in fodder sorghum (cv. M. P. Chari) and lucerne has been standardized. The method is based on hydrolysis of diuron to 3, 4. dichloro aniline followed by diazotization and colour development by reacting with alkaline solution of (3-naphthol. The developed dye was dissolved in acetone and the colour absorption was measured at 540 m/μi against distilled water as blank. The sampling, extraction procedure, purification and chromatographic clean up have been described. The method is sensitive between the range of 1 ppm and 20 ppm diuron.
