Abstract

A field trial was conducted to compare effects of diuron, fluometuron, linuron and row cultivations on weed control and yield of seed-cotton on clay loam soil of Udaipur. It was found from the study that in monsoon planted cotton, pre-emergence application of 1.0 kg/ha of fluometuron afforded most effective weed control, and produced as much seed-cotton as handweeded plots. The treatments in 1970 cost Rs. 200/ha. Row cultivation in cotton was found futile after the crop had been treated with pre-emergence fluometuron. However, in the event of occurrence of perennial weeds, cotton would probably respond to row cultivation, for fluometuron does not control such weeds.
