A trial in plum (Prunus domestica L) orchard was initiated to study the efficacy of different herbicides at Satyanand Stokes Horticultural Complex, Solan. The study reveals that application of various concentration of simazine, diuron, atrazine and terbacil along-with paraquat (0.4 kg/ha) checked the emergence of monocot and dicot weeds. However, MSMA (0 88 kg/ha) alone did not prove effective in controlling the monocot weeds. The higher dosage of MSMA controlled a considerable extent of the emergence of monocot and dicot weeds. The best control was obtained with 4–6 kg/ha simazine, diuron or atrazine mixed with paraquat. There were no phytotoxic effects of herbicides on the trees. The yield and other quality parameters of the fruit were not affected significantly.
