Phenotypic and Molecular Studies on Vancomycin Resistant Staphylococcus Species Isolated from Paediatric Hospital, Mansoura University, Egypt

A total of 50 Staphylococcus species were isolated from patient in Mansoura University Pediatric Hospital in Egypt. Several techniques were used including identification of Staphylocoaccus species, antimicrobial susceptibility test, preparation of genomic DNA, PCR assay of vanA gene detection, detection of vanA gene sequence and data analysis. The present study include comparison among three methods of susceptibility test: disc diffusion method, manual minimum inhibitory concentration method (broth macrodilution) and automated minimum inhibitory concentration method using Microscan Walkaway from Siemens.
