Communication plays a vital role in the diffusion of the knowledge in the society. The better the communication the faster will be the development of the society. At present radio, television and print media are playing an important role in educating the rural women about farm and household activities. A few attempts have been made to study the effect of media in educating rural women. It was found that majority of the rural women realized that media improved their mental level, provided knowledge on new developments especially about women related matters.
Mehta (1972) and Pun (1972) revealed that rural women gained in knowledge about household practices through radio listening. Raj amani (1983) found that 71.00 per cent of the respondents had variation in the knowledge gained by them due to listening to Farm school on the Air broadcasts. It could be concluded that there was a significant gain in knowledge through media but the extent of knowledge gained differed in case of radio; television and print: Thus, it was thought appropriate to study the impact of media on farm women.
