Abstract

In a democratic society citizens can make the government accountable if they have the basic information regarding governments decisions and functioning The right to information law empower them to do just that Information as a term has been derived from the Latin words ‘for-mation and Forma ‘which means giving shape to something new, awareness to information is about democratization of communication ’. It may be observed from the selected cases that, illiterate rural marginalized as well as person who are socio-economically deprived in urban setting hare to take help of NGOs to sort out these problems as they themselves cannot muster courage to fight with the corrupt officials. These caves highlighted the importance of communicating RTI information to the masses and especially encouraging NGOs to play catalytic role in the redress, fit grievances. As a last word, it maybe concluded that RTI is a weapon which can bring revolutionary changes in the democratic setting of our country provided it is used judiciously.
