Training Need Assessment of Livestock Owner in Improved Animal Husbandry Practices

Abstract

The technological gap of know-how determined among the livestock owners through assessment of training needs in improved animal husbandry practices. Nawabganj and Bhojipura two blocks of Bareilly district were purposively selected. One village from each block of Bareilly district were purposively selected. One village from each block and sixty respondents from each village were selected randomly to comprise the total of 120 sample size. A farmer rearing the animals was considered as the sample for the study. The study revealed that, the overall training needs of the respondents about 62 percent was medium followed by low (22.50%) and high level (15.83%) in improved animal husbandry practices. However, majority of the respondent priorities the training areas viz, input supplied and record keeping (mean score 1.56) followed by health care (mean score 1.36), feeding (mean score 1.02) and fodder production (mean score 1.01) practices and ranked them as 1, 21" ’, 3 ’ ’and 4th, respectively. Most of the respondents wanted to have the off campus training at village level before the start of mansoon for the duration of 1 week through participatory mode of training.
