The present investigation was carried out in Hisar and Rohtak districts of Haryana to assess the vocabulary development of rural preschoolers. Experimental material comprised 200 preschoolers selected from both the districts Hisar (100) and Rohtak (100) in the age of 2 to 334 years. There was no difference in vocabulary development, over locations, no significant difference in language development in boys and girls in both age groups in Hisar district. In Rohtak district vocabulary development of boys was better than girls during the age. of (24 75 years) (z = 2.16) while, during the age group (2.75–3.5 years) the vocabulary development of boys was at par with that of girls. Overall, the boys were better than girls in Rohtak district Conclusively it may be said that in this study negligible sex difference appeared with respect to language performance on different tests.
