Abstract

Two way communication techniques were employed to educate 150 mothers of pre-school children of Cholapur Block, Varanasi. The contents of the education were related to feeding practices of the child, sources of nutrients, balanced diet and amount of consumption of these nutrients by the children, individual Question scoring Technique (IQST) was adopted to assess the skill performance of the mothers at two phases of the programme. The statistical: analysis witnessed that the skill performance of the mothers ameliorates significantly (t=14.5 79, df=298, P>O. 00 1) after the education programme which was supported with effective communication techniques. It was also established that the age, caste and formal education of the mothers have significantly influenced their skill performance.
