The main objective of the study is to provide opportunities to students to develop right perspective of rural life and develop attitude towards rural community and gain firsthand experience in the application of home science knowledge and transfer of technologies related to child and family care. Present study was conducted in a purposively selected village Dahima area of Hisar district of Haryana state. The study was carried out on 108 respondents from different families. The existing knowledge of women about care during pregnancy and delivery, childcare and different welfare scheme for rural women was assessed through self-prepared and standardized interview schedule. After pretesting of knowledge of women, a three-month programme was imparted through lecturers, demonstration and health discussion by Home Science final year students. Then impact of programme was assessed through post testing of the women for increment in their knowledge. Result depicted that there was significant improvement in knowledge. Their knowledge was increased maximum for component of care during pregnancy followed by knowledge about welfare schemes. But there was less gain in knowledge about care during delivery and infant care.
