Abstract

University graduates showed dependency on television and radio for information on current issues. It is therefore, suggested that television and radio should also focus on the interest of younger generation and make programmes, which are more suitable to their needs. The research studies on programme preferences and listening and viewing behavior of college graduates for radio and television should be planned which will enable producers to produce progammes having proximity with choice of the youth. The media producers and policy makers should give a serious thought to the type of programmes being telecast or broadcast. Focused and interesting educational Programmes catering to the needs of youth should be produced. Quiz and discussion programmes with variety which catches attention of youth may be included in popular programmes. This type of programmes can provide both entertainment and information on current issues.
