Information preservation behaviour of FFS facilitators

Facilitator of FFS is not merely a communicator of prefabricated information, but act as a change agent, doing what he can to ensure that appropriate technology is devised, and to create the necessary conditions for change as well as giving technical advice and guidance to the farmers to find their own solutions locally. The present investigation conducted in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra state revealed that memorization, maintaining common note book and file, maintaining insect-pest specimens and maintaining news paper clippings were most prevalent IPM information storage methods. Translation of message into local language of farmers, preparation of posters and slogans, graphs and charts, photographs and model, and preparing lecture notes were most commonly followed techniques for transformation of IPM information by the facilitators. Information input and evaluation behaviour were identified as crucial factors in information preservation behaviour of facilitators.
