Role of communication media in nutrition education

Abstract

The present study was conducted in Ghazipur district (Uttar Pradesh) in order to study the role of communication media in "Nutrition education". ‘Interview cum questionnaire ’technique has been administered to collect the data. Seventy-five female respondents each were purposely selected from rural and urban areas of the district. The data were presented in tabular form supported with suitable statistical tools wherever felt necessary.

Though ‘education ’is the prime facet of communication, but it is very disappointing that ‘education ’gets last priority. Nearly two third respondents were unknown to the programmes related to ‘foods and nutrition ’. Majority of the rural as well as urban respondents were not satisfied with the role played by communication media. The respondents emphasized on various suggestions, so that communication media may be helpful to play positive role in construction of peaceful, prosperous, healthy and progressive society.
