Abstract

The investigation was conducted by studying a representative sample of oil mills from Rajasthan. Usage intensity of sources and the relevance of particular sources were analysed for the differential impact and role of each source. The study revealed that there exist wide variation in use of information sources by the oil mills. The multiple sources used by the units highlighted the differences in message content of sources. The relevancy of information from traders was found to be the highest whereas, the relevancy of information from technical publications and radio were found to be low. The result of the study calls for pragmatic evaluation of the methods of message dissemination aimed at agro-processing industries of similar nature. Harnessing synergies arising from efficient use of information offers immense potential to the stakeholders at different levels of the entire value chain.
