Abstract

The findings indicate that mean score of female was higher than male. This can be interpreted as citizens amongst females hold favourable perceptions regarding the contemporary role of newspapers in the democracy than their counterparts. Significant differences were found in the perceptions of citizens regarding contemporary role of newspaper on Liberty aspect in relation to their educational qualification. The variablewise findings of the present study highlight that significant differences were noticed between educated and highly educated citizens as regards the contemporary role of newspapers on Liberty aspect of the democracy.
