Abstract

The word magazine has been derived from French word ‘Magasin ’which means ‘store house ’. Farm magazine has its unique characteristics like presenting ready references, low cost, wide coverage and easy manipulation of message. Out of all print materials, farm magazine are published with on specific periodicity and cater to the need of specific client groups in India. Effective farm magazine can convey information on latest science and technology in agriculture and its applied fields, in more understandable manner to its readers. Hence knowing the opinions of the readers and suggestions of farmers on the farm magazine will be helpful in improving the overall effectiveness of the magazine. This will ultimately benefit the readers as well as publishers of the magazine. Respondents gave the opinion that though articles were need based, easy to understand, letter size of the article was appropriate, magazine was over-all felt to be needed but the content of the magazine was too scientific. Use of scientific and technical words was found to be prevalent and farmers opined to make it simple and general instead of scientific. Respondents also suggested to use the caption or title just near the illustrations, design and photographs.
