Climate chaos is increasing, glaciers are retreating, forest and ocean wildlife is disappearing and industrial chemical are penetrating the food chain in the remotest region of the world. The dissemination of modern scientific and technological knowledge about Earth Summit issues to the general mass can be made through mass media, print media is one of important media. A study was undertaken and study revealed that Aggregate area provided for Earth Summit News was more in national daily i.e. The Hindu (5606.11 Cm2) compared to regional daily i.e. Hindustan (5491.7 Cm2). The form of presentation i.e. Special Column occupied more area both in national and regional dailies i.e. 56.97% and 36.9% respectively. Earth Summit News with headlines was more in regional daily as compared to national daily. Earth Summit News without headlines was more in national daily as compared to regional daily. Maximum Earth Summit News was in upper half both in national and regional dailies i.e. 93.22% and 83.52%. International level news was more in national daily than regional daily while national level news was more in regional daily than national daily. The maximum Earth Summit News was appeared on page no.14 in the national daily and in regional daily it was on page no. 13. The maximum Earth Summit News was published in the month of Aug. 2002 in national daily whereas in the month of Sept.2002 in the regional daily as area wise.
Bio-diversity and ecosystem management typology of Earth summit news was maximum area covered in both national and regional dailies i.e. 38.68% & 48.28% respectively. Association of press (AP) covered maximum news area in national daily (i.e.33.33%); whereas correspondent covered maximum news area in regional daily (i.e.52.18%) as sources of information for publication of news.
