Abstract

It was observed that most of the farmers were frequently using friends/neighbour, radio, progressive farmers, television, private input dealers, news papers and magazines as the communication media with weighted mean score of 3, 2.98, 2.97, 2.96, 2.95, 2.5 and 2.48 respectively. These were ranked in Ist, II nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th respectively. High extant use of field demonstrations, field days, newspapers, private input dealers, television, progressive framers/neighbours as the communication media with weighted mean score of 1.67 to 3.0, the medium extant use of subjective matter specialists of agriculture university, farmers fair, posters/charts, agricultural departments, extension workers, B.D.O., scientists of ICAR institutions/University, VDO's, cultural Programme such as drama, Panchayat meeting, exhibitions and social institutions as the communication media with weighted mean score of 1.07 to 1.66 and low extant use of NGO's, magazines, D.T.O. and rural leaders with weighted mean score of 1.0 to 1.06. The most of the farmers needed more information about the agricultural and allied field as like animal husbandry. Awareness of the farmers about new communication technology were very poor except mobile technology.
