Wlan security their vulnerability, threats and alternative solutions

Wireless networks are one of the cutting edges of the modern technology and are fast become everywhere. It provides many advantages such as probability, flexibility, mobility and lower installation costs. But it also attached with new security vulnerabilities, threats and alters the organization's overall information security risk profile. However, risks are natural in any wireless technology. The most significant source of risks in wireless networks is that the technology's underlying communications medium such as the airwave, is open to intruders. In this paper we present a frame work to help network managers understand and assess the various threats associated with the use of wireless technology. We will also present the number of solutions for countering those threats. The objective of this paper is to support administrator/managers in making such decisions by providing them with a basic understanding of the nature of the various threats associated with wireless networking and available solutions.
