Farmers Club-An Ideal Way of Technology Transfer

Amongst the different adopted villages of KVK Satara, Sanjaynagar is one of the village from Karad Tahsil of Satara district. After the survey of village in 2003, KVK gave priorities to solve the constraints and problems of village. To overcome the problems, Initially KVK has established farmers club and through which KVK has started it activities. Farmers also gave response positively & come together to solve the far problems through adoption of new agriculture technology. The farmers clubs take initiative & organized arranged several training on several new technologies like Production Technique of Crops, INM, Importance of Soil Testing and Fertilizer application, Organic farming, Vermicompost, IPM, Malnutrition, Sanitation etc. In addition to trainings, farmers club arranged extension activities like Group Discussion, Meetings, Farmers Rally, Field Visits, Farmers Tour, Health Camps etc. with the help of KVK Satara.

With the help of farmers clubs KVK organized FLD programme in village to demonstrate new Varieties, Nutrient Management practices and Integrated Pest Management also. Now farmer of Sanjaynagar village using new high yielding varieties of crops following INM practice as well as IPM practice. As a result of this the yield level is increases & cost of production also reduced.

After continuous initiatives of KVK & Farmerse club, villagers changed their life style and adopt new thing. At present, they achieved 100 % target of Nirmal Gram, established Gobar Gas, Tree plantation, Smokeless Chula and Vermicompost. Thus, they solve the problem of Sanitation and organic fertilizer. They adopt Vermicompost projects on village level and now they stop the burning of sugarcane trash and other farm waste and recycling the farm waste.

Thus, after establishment of farmers clubs villagers solve the problems, use new crop production technogy & manage their resources. Now farmers club of Sanjaynagar is an ideal example for others in transfer of agril. technology.
