Abstract

The Indian education system needs an attention. Teaching becomes very monotonous and students have to mostly rely on note learning. In the traditional classroom teaching there is hardly any scope for the children to interact with the teacher, teaching-learning materials and the teaching-learning environment. It is important for teachers to use teaching resources for many reasons. First, it helps the students to understand the objective of the lesson. Additionally, it helps the teacher to evaluate the students. Teachers should be made aware about the benefits of IEC methods and materials so that they can enhance the quality of teaching.

Keeping the benefits of IEC methods & materials in mind the present action research project was undertaken to create the awareness regarding IEC methods and material amongst primary school teachers as it serves many purposes in classroom teaching and make teachers efficient in teaching their students. They can raise the standards of education system. The outcomes of the action research were highly satisfactory as the teachers not only learnt the IEC methods & materials taught to them but also effectively started using them in their regular teaching. Further the students were also motivated when taught with the support of IEC methods & materials.
