The training exhibited a positive impact in terms of gain in knowledge as the mean knowledge score of the farmers after the training was significantly higher in comparison to the mean knowledge score possessed by them before commencement of training programme. The training also exhibited an average increase of 24.28 per cent in the knowledge related to improved rice production technology. However, on an average, about 12 per cent loss was found in knowledge after 15 days of training. Even then, the knowledge retained by the trainees after 15 days interval of training was significantly higher as compared to the knowledge possessed by them before start of the training. Out of ten independent variables, undertaken in the study, eight variables were found to be highly correlated with the gain in and retention of knowledge. But the multiple regression analysis indicated that the variable education was the main potential predictor of gain in knowledge. The variable education and risk preference had independent and direct influence over the retention of knowledge.
