Abstract

A study conducted on "Communication behavior of Paddy farmers" in the village Mehndiganj of Aaraziline Block of Varanasi District with following objectives to know various socio-economic characteristics of paddy farmers and to find out the extent of usage of different communication channels by paddy farmers. Total 30 farmers were selected for data collection. The data was collected with the help of structured interview schedule. Percentage and frequency were used for describing background characteristics of the study group. It was found from the study that the farmers received information as agriculture aspects primarily from localite channel like friends and progressive farmers, impersonal cosmopolite channel like radio and newspaper and personal cosmopolite channels like KVK and IAS, BHU. With regards to information processing, maximum farmers weighing in the light of their past experience, Discussing with other farmers and judging in the light of socio-economic condition. They stored the information mainly by memorizing. With regard to information giving behavior majority of farmers conveying in local members at farm or at home.
