Impact of mobile phones on the life style of management students of Pantnagar University

Abstract

The invention and diffusion of information and communication technologies are said to be revolutionizing work and family life. Wireless mobile devices increase the scope for work and family flexibility by enabling the micro-coordination of time, tasks and schedules. This is particularly significant as people are now working at times and places outside of the traditional workday and place. It is widely believed that technologies like the mobile phone and e-mail are blurring boundaries between personal life and the workplace. While for some commentators these developments represent a threat to the quality of modern life, for others they represent new opportunities for integrating the spheres of work and family. Majority of the management students of Pantnagar University were using Nokia handset to send and receive text message and play and record videos and involved in video and audio recording and used their mobile phones during morning, evening and night time. Sixty percent respondents were using mobiles daily whereas maximum (30%) students used Airtel connection. The youth is playing a vital role in this rapid pace. The strong and mighty cultures are toppling the frail ones. Any technology has positive as well as negative impact. Mobile phone has several negative impacts such as Time waste in gossips, Blackmailing and kidnapping, MMS and video clipping, Capture blue films and image, Capturing porn images and blackmailing. The respondents were of the opinion that some time Blank calls disturbed them. In spite of all this, mobile phones had a dozen advantages which put a curtain on all the ill-effects.
