Abstract

This study is about statues of webpage of Indian state agricultural universities. Scoring scale was used to evaluate websites and their online resources of 25 State Agricultural Universities. This evaluation study indicates that the higher percentage of Agricultural Universities ’websites have good quality regarding organizational structure and online application and/or admission. However, information regarding educational resources, research findings and extension are found in few University websites. Of the 42 Agricultural Universities, only 32 (72%) were thought to have their own websites enlisted by Indian Council of Agricultural (ICAR). Thus, comparisons were made between 25 Agricultural universities, which have active and/or functional webpage during the period of investigation (March, 2008). Two websites (Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh Agricultural Universities) have the top two high percentage scores. While the high scoring university websites have relatively excellent status, two agricultural universities website score is below average. One shared factor of the top rated Universities is the offering of at least recent scientific information in the form of online publication, abstracts, research activities, news and views, and online discussion and feedback in webpage development.
