Abstract

The Media appears to play a significant role in our lives. It is all around us, from the shows we watch on television or the websites we browse on the Internet or the music, entertainment or information that we access on the radio, to the books and magazines we read each day. Media today, has a wider coverage and viewer ship than perhaps a decade ago. It has reached every home, town and country. The period of adolescence, a developmental transition between childhood and adulthood, entails major interrelated physical, cognitive and psychological changes that can make adolescents susceptible to the influence of media. s Socio-cultural factors that underpin gender differences in body dissatisfaction have not frequently been explored, there is relative contribution of internalization of media body ideals and perceived pressure to achieve this ideal in explaining body dissatisfaction in adolescent boys and girls. Girls shows higher body dissatisfaction, internalization and pressure than boys. Media portrayal of current trends in women's physical appearance influencing the Behaviour of adolescent girls in many context e.g-Body satisfaction/dissatisfaction, Eating behavior, Body parts enhancement through surgery and cosmetics & Buying behavior. Thus the paper review the impact of media on adolescent girls dissatisfaction, Eating behavior, Body parts enhancement through surgery and cosmetics, Buying behavior. eating behavior, buying behavior (clothing, cosmetics, accessories etc.) and willingness to enhance physical appearance etc.
