Abstract

The study was conducted at the Model Dairy Plant (MDP), NDRI, Karnal (Haryana), which was purposively selected as a case, for being a unique dairy plant in the Northern India, so as to obtain the feedback from the personnel employed at the plant vis-à-vis management of the plant. The importance of obtaining the feedback from the employees and workers working in the plant is crucial for the uninterrupted, effective and efficient functioning of the dairy plant. As this study was based on "Case-Study mode", complete enumeration was done in case of twenty permanent employees, forty temporary workers and the in-plant trainees. For the purpose of obtaining the feedback, the respondents were asked to list their feedback in the form of suggestions to further the cause of the plant management, and then, based on the frequency of the suggestions listed by all the respondents, a final list of suggestions was obtained. The important suggestions made by the permanent employees were the employment of skilled manpower, up gradation of the plant machinery for better efficiency launching and marketing of new dairy products by MDP on its own, full utilisation of the available infrastructure facilities w.r.t. all sections of MDP, etc. The feedback from the temporary employees revealed that the most frequently made suggestion was provision of rest room, uniform, canteen facilities, etc. for workers. There were three important suggestions made by all the in-plant and ex-plant trainees, i.e., facilities for refreshment, recreation, etc.; visits to other food/dairy plants; & provision of full-time training Instructor(s), class rooms, proper demonstration facilities, etc.
