Coverage and sources of economic issues appeared in Yojana

Abstract

Information plays an important role in finding what is what and how? To reveal the information throughout the India/World, it is not an easy approach without help of the communication media, that may be print or visual media. In this study magazine YOJANA, a monthly, devoted to socio-economic issues was selected for the purpose of content analysis. The magazine Yojana is being published in 13 languages viz. English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Oriya. Yojana gives different shades of opinion and views on any issue and thereby presents a balanced picture. This paper focuses on the content analysis of economic issues and the sources of the articles published in magazine Yojana. Findings of the study reveals that maximum space was devoted to agricultural economy (21.40%) followed micro finance and S.H. Gs. (19.28%). Regarding source of articles study reveals that maximum number of articles (29.04%) were contributed by academician (Professor, Reader, Lecturer etc.) followed by scientists and economists (16.13%).
