Communication sources of pig rearers

Abstract

A study on the source of communication of the pig rearers in Dima Hasao district was carried out by collecting fifty each pig farmers from two developmental blocks namely Diyungbra and Jatinga in Assam. The study revealed that large majority of the pig farmers i.e. 84 percent, 98 percent and 83 percent of the respondents in Block I, Block II and pooled sample respectively had medium level of use of source of communication. When specifically studied, it was revealed that a large proportion i.e.76 percent, 98 percent and 87 percent of the respondents in Block I, Block II and pooled sample respectively used neighbors or peer groups as their main source of information. This was followed by friends and relatives at 84 percent, 96 percent and 90 percent Block I, Block II and pooled sample respectively in “very much” degree.
