Abstract

A Committee of State Minister, In-charge of Agriculture Marketing was set up on 2nd March, 2010 with the prime objective to make agricultural marketing reforms in the country with the encouragement of direct marketing, contact farming and private markets etc. So it is an opportune time to study the rythu bazaars (farmers market in Andhra Pradesh) since these are operating from more than a decade. It is important to study perception of its beneficiaries to assess the pros and cons as well as operational and management constraints. This study was conducted using descriptive research design and interview schedule based survey research method attempted to know the perception of the member farmers and consumers about the rythu bazaars in Visakhapatnam, amenities available in rythu bazaar, problems faced by them with respect to the rythu bazaar along with their proposed suggestions to improvise it.
