Abstract

The success of an extension worker depends upon his ability to select and use the best combination of resources at his end. At present, arid legumes occur mainly from western arid districts of Rajasthan State, Barmer being the major one. Barmer produces on an average 42, 243 tons of arid legumes comprising of Moth, Moong, Guar from 5.77 lakh ha area (2004–05). However, there is a large yield gap between the achieved and potential. Opportunities exist to spread the arid legumes crops to provide sustainability as well as diversification.
