Majority of theperi-urban farmers and rural dairy farmers 70 percent and 63.66 percent had medium knowledge followed by 20 percent and 15 percent had high knowledge respectively regarding improved dairy farming practices. The peri-urban had more knowledge than rural dairy farmers and it might be due to more education and more social participation and extension contact by peri-urban farmers. Most of the peri-urban dairy farmers had high level of knowledge in respect of Milk product, Hygiene and sanitation practices and got I and II rank and rural dairy farmers had high level of knowledge in respect of Method of milking and Milk product sanitation practices and got I and II rank. The study showed that majority of dairy farmers had dominated in medium category of knowledge and more knowledge was possessed by peri-urban dairy farmers than rural dairy farmers.
