Abstract

Press, the fourth pillar of democracy, has always been reluctant to accept women in its fold. Even as women strive their way into the payrolls of media organizations, they often fail to live up to their full potential as journalists. The paper captures their struggles and achievements in India and abroad. It makes a special mention of the trials and tribulations of women journalists in Odisha. It also raises pertinent questions that demand answers from scholars exploring the status of female scribes in India.
