Abstract

The results revealed that family members followed by other progressive farmers were the most important personal localite sources. Among personal cosmopolite sources, majority of potato farmers preferred Block level Agriculture/extension officer and KVK/CPRI scientists as important source of information. Among mass media, farmers mostly used radio, TV and newspaper as major sources of agricultural information. Based on frequency of use of different channels and their weighted mean score; family members, block development officer/block agriculture officer and radio were top ranked channels of information in personal localite, personal cosmopolite and mass media categories respectively. Important extension activities like demonstration, Kisan Mela and extension/technical bulletins were not found as major source of information while easy accessibility to Radio and TV resulted in increased utilization of these media.
