Abstract

Results indicated that large number of pregnant women were vegetarians, very few subjects knew that green leafy vegetables are rich sources of essential nutrients. Very few were aware that breads feeding should be initiated within 6 hours and continued for 6 months. Poor awareness and incorrect practices regarding diet, personal hygiene, breast feeding and weaning was seen in rural pregnant women. Hence, there is urgent need to implement a programme of nutrition education for them.
