Abstract

The data focused that ‘market is in the hands of middlemen’ (88.67%), ‘price fluctuation in market’ (88.00%) and ‘poor rates due to middlemen’ (85.84%) were most severe constraints of majority of orchardists in the study area and ranked 1st to 3rd in the rank order. The other severe constraints faced by the orchardists were ‘lack of quick transport from rural hilly areas’ (73.33%). The major suggestions given by the majority of mango growers are ‘Bio-fertilizer should be made available at low cost in the village itself’, ‘Supportive role of the govt. in marketing, subsidy and loan for eco-friendly mango’, ‘Mango festivals should be organized in big cities for marketing of mango’.
