Abstract

This paper identified the major challenges to the effective use of ICTs in agricultural extension service and preffered solutions to the problems bugging the effective use of ICTs in agricultural extension service. Notable among these challenges is the lack of conducive policy environment that will facilitate the use of ICTs for rural development programmes and extension service. The paper concludes that a situation analysis is necessary by different countries and regions in ascertaining the most important challenges they face and the possible solutions to apply to achieve a successful and effective use of ICTs in the delivery of agricultural extension service.
