Adoption of green ict by students: A case study

Abstract

The aim of the study is to assess the awareness and adoption of green ICT among the Computer Science students at University of Calicut. Structured questionnaire was used to collect data from a representative sample of 209 students. It is revealed that the students do not know much about green ICT but they are familiar with the term. They follow some of the standard operating system tools and procedures as green ICT practices. There is no gender difference in the green ICT practices followed by the students and reasons for adopting them. Majority of the students have a positive attitude towards the adoption of green ICT. This study is useful for making green ICT policies for students and professionals in India.
