Developing a knowledge management system in environmental engineering: Awareness, requirements and expectations of scientists

The objective of the present study is to explore the awareness of Knowledge Management System among the scientists working in the spectrum of environmental engineering. The researcher further investigates the requirements and expectations of scientists associated with the Knowledge Management System in environmental engineering. A web-based questionnaire was used for the purpose of data collection. The findings of the study indicate that all the scientists were aware about the concept of Knowledge Management System. Furthermore, the majority of scientists have a positive attitude towards Knowledge Management System and understand the potential benefits associated with it. The findings of the study are quite useful in designing and developing a Knowledge Management System in academics particularly in the field of environmental engineering.
