Global warming has emerged as one of the most important environmental issues ever to confront the humanity. It is becoming evident that humans have caused most of the past century's warming effect by releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. It poses serious challenge to various sectors such as agriculture, health, meteorology, forestry and fisheries and hence warrants emergency preparedness and response. An attempt is made in this article to discuss the impacts of global warming and various avenues that can be considered to curb global warming with emphasis to Indian scenario.
