Abstract

Recent studies on the recovery phenomenon open new possibilities to develop phytoplasmas disease control strategies using biocontrol agents. Endophytic communities associated with healthy and phytoplasma diseased plants were described through cultivation-dependent and –independent methods allowing identifying putative biocontrol agents. Although the mechanisms of phytoplasma-endophyte interaction are not clear, preliminary experiments in controlled condition reported a mitigation of phytoplasmas-asssociated symptomatology mediated by endophytes.
